The Florida Department of Transportation has informed the Treasure Beach Property Owners Association that the anticipated crosswalk has been delayed until the summer of 2024. The contract has been awarded and the funding has been released but supply chain backlogs and shortages have affected the availability of the required materials and parts.
The crosswalk will be similar to those on A1A in St. Augustine Beach (photo: St. Augustine Record). It will take approximately one year to complete construction. Stay tuned for updates.
The Treasure Beach Property Owners Association hosted a crowd for its annual July 4th cookout. Great eats were grilling all afternoon under the parade of tents neighbors set up for the day.

" A project more than a decade in the making opens beach access in St. Augustine's Treasure Beach community."
A public-private partnership funded a walkway that connects State Road A1A near Escambia Street with the ocean's coastline. St. Johns County footed the cost of clearing a pedestrian path from A1A to Escambia while the bulk of the work (about $100,000) to build an elevated walkover from adjacent Broward Street to the beach was funded through private contributions from nearby homeowners. The 450-foot walkway and dune crossing is an environmentally friendly elevated pedestrian path leading to a wooden frame walkway to the sand. This new beach access was OPENED to public use as of late December 2021!
